There an ongoing revolution in the jewelry business caused by the arrival of 3d technology tools both in the area of design, prototyping and manufacturing.

The reasons for the revolution are several. To start with, the technology allows you to produce very complex pieces that just a few decades ago would have been too expensive to produce.

Another reason is that both globalization and the fierce competition from internet is putting pressure on jewellers to offer more advanced, innovative and bold designs, often custom designs.

But the business owners found out soon that it is not enough to be a capable 3d designer to produce jewelry. 3D Designers need also deep know-how about the materials, stone setting techniques, etc.

It is not unsual nowadays that a model is so advanced, that it must be made in separate pieces, which then need to be assembled together. And a 3d designer must know then which one is the best approach when soldering is required.

For those reasons the market is asking more and more for 3d designers that also have a background in jewelry manufacturing.
